Hamunaptra at the Lake Parade

Hamunaptra at the Lake Parade
Since I have been in Geneva a few times already and due to the fact that i have been at the Lake Parade 1 time before i kind of knew what I could expect of it. A great atmosphere, happy partying people, nice weather and of course all of my GVA friends which i made during the years I have been visiting the city.
I arrived the day before the parade on a Friday and i used my time there to chill out with a few friends lying in the grass [No not the weed….] right next to the lake, drinking a beer and getting tanned since the sun was burning holes in the ground….
At the other side of the lake they were preparing the stages for the day after and every now and then you could hear the sound systems being tested and the beats travelling around the area. You could feel the relaxed atmosphere among the people who were chilling around the lake just as I was, they were all excited and were all talking about that 1 thing, that 1 event that fills the area around the lake with about 600.000 people, the event that would be held for the 10th time, the Lake Parade.

At the day of the parade i went to the starting point looking for the truck I was supposed to perform on and it was there that  I met up with DJ’s like “Randy, Radium and The Wishmaster. Slowly the crowd started gathering around “our” truck and i already knew that we would have the biggest following of the whole parade? At 3 o clock in the afternoon the party kicked off and the 1st DJ’s started playing their records. The atmosphere was great from the start, the people were jumping, the weather was nice and us DJ’s….we were drunk! woohoo! It took a while before our truck started moving, since there were like 25 + trucks and we were at the end of the line, but once our truck started moving the party really started. Everybody started screaming and going insane, a perfect start of a great event.

Around 7 o clock at night it was my time to show the people what Hamunaptra is all about! We were just moving over the bridge, the most crowded point of the parade, when i started to spin. When i checked out the line up of the truck i was really happy since I could see that most DJ’s would play very hard and most of them surely would spin a lot of “Frenchcore” so I could bring something totally different and I played a set filled with every aspect that Enzyme Records represents! I displayed a gathering of Enzyme styles!

Since the DJ booth was located on the truck in such a way that i couldn’t see how the largest part of the crowd were reacting on what i was playing I just gave it my best and I was happy to know that in the end the needles of the turntables stood their ground and only skipped 2 times. Remember that the truck is moving, going forward, stopping, bumping and that there are actually people jumping on the truck as well! Later on I heard that my set went off pretty well and that the people liked what I did so I was happy with the outcome.

After my set it was time for The Wishmaster to do his thing and as he started playing I went of and started to move around the party area that was set up along side the boulevard. I decided to stay there and I partied on until the end of the “Lake Sensation” [that’s what the after party is called].
Sounds of Drum n bass, Techno, Clubhouse, Electro, Breakbeats and all other electronic music styles were being spread and the atmosphere was absolutely great.

Hopefully i will have the pleasure to go again next year, and i suggest you do the same!
